El Dorado, Corning educators named 2025 Arkansas Rural Teachers of the Year

Clair Antoon-Newton, an AP Literature English teacher at El Dorado High School, and Shawna Radcliff, a fifth and sixth grade math teacher at Corning Middle School, were recently named the 2025 Arkansas Rural Education Association’s Teachers of the Year. The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas have sponsored the Rural Teachers of the Year Award since 2004.

Expanding Outdoor Recreation

As Arkansans gather to celebrate the Fourth of July, we are reminded that the spirit of independence lives in both our history and our land. From the Ozark trails to the Ouachita River, Arkansas offers some of the most spectacular outdoor experiences in the country. And this year, thanks to legislation passed during the 2025 Regular Session, we’re investing in that promise like never before.

Work resumes on Knobel Y upgrades

The Arkansas Department of Transportation has resumed their work on the Knobel Y safety improvement project. These upgrades, mirroring what was installed at the Corning Y last year, will add a concrete median to the north bound lane of Arkansas Highway 90 as it junctions north with Arkansas Highway 135. The angle at which Arkansas Highway 90 enters Arkansas Highway 135 is being adjusted as well. When completed, ARDOT will begin work on the Beach Grove Y in Greene County where Arkansas Highway 34 intersects with Arkansas Highway 135.
