The Black River Trap & Skeet Club’s 2024 AYSSP Format shoot was held April 27 with 24 squads representing the East Region. And despite a weather delay of one hour and a blown transformer, shooters, coaches, parents and spectators enjoyed a great competition.
For the second time in a month, residents of Northeast Arkansas were looking skyward to see a rare celestial event. On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse occurred over the state with Corning in the pathway. On Friday, May 10, 2024, a powerful geomagnetic storm allowed sky gazers in Arkansas to see the Northern Lights. The major disturbance in Earth’s magnetic field caused by sunspots on the Sun enabled the aurora to be visible much further south than usual.
