Herbert Ahrent

Herbert Ahrent, 97, of Little Rock, formerly of Corning, passed away July 16, 2024, at Fox Ridge Assisted Living in Little Rock.

Mr. Ahrent was born October 15, 1926, in Corning. He spent his entire life farming and proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed farming and driving around looking at fields. His past times included collecting Keen Kutter, woodworking, playing cards and dominoes, and going to the coffee shop. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Corning.

On November 12, 1955, he married Cora Whitener. They were married 58 years prior to her death on March 28, 2014.

Survivors include his daughter, Jean Cook of Little Rock; brother, Louis (Ruth) Ahrent of Corning; grandchild, Alaina Cook of Little Rock; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick John and Dorthea Ernestine (Allmandinger) Ahrent; brothers, Vernon, Edwin and Martin Ahrent; and sister, Ruth Letterman.

Visitation was held Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Corning from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral service followed at the church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jon Bishof officiating under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. Burial at Corning Cemetery.
