Melanie Dawn “Wright” Garrett, age 63, of Plumerville, Arkansas departed her earthly life and went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. Melanie was born on August 7th, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Billy Gene Wright and Rita Rebecca Alice Tyler Wright. She was a 1978 graduate of Corning High School. In 1980, she started work for Corning Walmart in the shoe department. Melanie relocated to Conway in 1984 and transferred to the Conway store as an invoice clerk. She started with Farmers Fire Insurance Company in Conway in 1997 and remained employed with the company until her retirement in December of 2023 due to illness. She married the love of her life, Kelly Garrett on June 7th, 1997, and they had two sons, Hunter and Hayden.

Melanie was a very gifted scrapbooker, volunteer, and a servant to all. She spent countless hours contributing her time and efforts to the Hilltoppers Home Extension Club, the Plumerville Association of Conway County Veterans, Cub Scouts, Relay for Life, The Conway County Care Center, her church, along with many others. She was a devoted member of the Robinson & Center Church of Christ in Conway, Arkansas. Melanie designed and decorated the graduating senior banquet for many years at her church.

She loved her family dearly and cherished each moment that she spent with them. Survivors include her husband of almost 27 years, Kelly Garrett of Plumerville; her two sons, Hunter Garrett of Nashville, Tennessee and Hayden Garrett of Plumerville; two sisters, Berkley (Randy) Simmons of Vilonia, Arkansas, and Sara Nestor of Conway, Arkansas; three brothers, Stanley (Lois) Wright of Corning, Arkansas, Steve (Lolet) Wright of San Antonio, Texas, and Paul (Candice) Wright of Sherwood, Arkansas; her motherin- law, Joyce “Brice” Garrett of Plumerville; brother & sister in-law Mark & Kathy Garrett of Springfield, Arkansas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, C.L. Garrett, and a special nephew, Joshua Blocker.

Funeral Services for Melanie will be held on Saturday, May 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Steve Norris and Bro. Allan Myers officiating. Burial will be at Plumerville Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 10th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chris Blocker, Matt Garrett, Brandon Simmons, Jeremy Ballard, Jacob Ballard, Matt Wright, and Jesse Wright. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
