CHS building history Corning High School on Bobcat Lane was built in 1967 on land formerly owned by Ada Prichard. The $785,000 Junior-Senior High School project was to construct a gymnasium, a high school building, a cafeteria-auditorium- library building, a junior high school building and an administrative building. The Courier reported approximately 82,538 square feet of floor space was constructed for an average cost of $7.02 per square foot. The superintendent at that time was Ray B. Watson. The Corning School Board of Education hosted an open house and dedication of the new Junior-Senior High School facility on Sunday, November 17, 1968. Guest speaker for the program of dedication was Dr. Silas D. Snow, president of State College of Arkansas, Conway, a former Corning superintendent. Dr. B. C. Page, president of the Board of Education, presided over the dedication. The invocation was by Rev. Jim Keith, pastor, First United Methodist Church.
