4-H Members compete in Clay County O-Rama
4-H O-Rama provides 4-H members with the opportunity to compare the skills they have gained with those of other members and with their own previous performances. 4-H club members from Corning, Piggott and Rector competed. This year’s Clay County 4-H O’Rama placings were: Bait Casting & Sportfishing- Juniors: 1st place- Kyle Golden, 2nd place- Kade McKinney, 3rd place- Samuel Jolly, 4th place- Charlie Swint. Seniors: 1st place- Thyme Spence, 2nd place-Lake Brown. Bicycle- Juniors: 1st place- Kyle Golden, 2nd place- Emma Golden, 3rd place- Emma Wilson, 4th place- Jaxon Wilson. Gun Safety-BB Gun- Juniors: 1st place- Kade McKinney, 2nd place- Charlie Swint, 3rd place- Ridge Brown, 4th place-Grayson Spence. Seniors: 1st place- Lake Brown, 2nd place- Thyme Spence. Corning School District prepares for the new Bell to Bell, No Cell Act from the State
Corning School District officials plan to roll out the “Bell to Bell, No Cell” policy this fall, reminding families that personal electronic devices will be off-limits during the instructional day.

Demolition derby is a smash hit
The demolition derby held on June 7 was a success. The winners were Scott Wright, first place; Austin Seal, second place; and Jake Smart, third place. The next derby is scheduled for July 5 at the Clay County fairgounds. The peewee division starts at 6:30 p.m. and the derby will be at 7 p.m. Entry at the gate is $10 with pit passes at $20.

The Kinder’s bring smiles to children through music
The Kinder’s performed at the Corning Pubic Library on June 24 as a part of their summer reading program. Children from the BRAD Child Development Program rode a buggy to the library to see the musical performance. For more information about enrolling your child stop by 420 W. State Capitol Week in Review
In the 2025 regular session the legislature created a sustainable, new system of property insurance for schools, higher education institutions and state agencies. It was the result of several years of work.

The University of Arkansas announced students who earned a spot on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester.
ACA seeking interns for convention
The Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association is looking for interns for their Annual Convention and Trade Show for the week of Aug. 4-9. The internship will cover Little Rock and Hot Springs. Interns are expected to prepare for and then execute the convention event plan set forth by the staff. The week long internship is unpaid, but housing and food for the week will be provided.
