As the final two weeks of the school year approach, the energy in our hallways might start to wane, but this is precisely the time to dig in and finish strong! I want to express my sincere gratitude to our dedicated teachers, enthusiastic students, and supportive parents for all their hard work and commitment throughout this year. When this column reminded my neighbor, Dot, about those old-time autograph books, she brought hers out of storage and we enjoyed reading what all her friends, me included, had to say, way back in 1939 (53 years ago). The sad note is that 11 of those who wrote in the book in 1939 are no longer living. Dot and I have been friends since second or third grade and now that we are neighbors, we fuss nearly as bad as when we played paper dolls with Emaline and Caroline Wright. We never got mad, but we sure lambast each other once in a while when we have different views on things. We each state our view, then shut up and remain friends because we both realize that we can’t all think alike.
