Bridge on U.S. Highway 62 scheduled to close in Clay County
Alternating lane closures across the Black River Bridge on U.S. Highway 62 near Corning will continue every Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Thursday, May 15.

Brownie-Pirtle Cemetery Association hold annual meeting
The Brownie-Pirtle Cemetery Association’s annual meeting was on March 17, at the Peach Orchard Pentecostal Church. Richard Smith called the meeting to order. Judy Schimming gave minutes of the previous meeting and treasury report. Richard Smith was re-elected president, and Judy Schimming was re-elected secretary-treasurer. John Daughhetee was re-elected to serve another term of five years as board member.

A Corning man was arrested following an investigation into a harassment complaint filed earlier that day, according to the Corning Police Department.

Corning School District to host Spring Vaccine Clinic April 30
The Corning School District will host a spring immunization clinic for eligible students on Wednesday, April 30, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). The clinic is open to students who are currently due or will be due for routine vaccines by the clinic date.
Corning Bobcat basketball team hosting four man scramble golf tournament
The Corning Bobcat basketball team is hosting a four man scramble golf tournament as a fundraiser. The golf tournament will be held on April 19 at the M.B. Ainley Golf Course starting at 8 a.m. It is $100 to sponsor a hole. There will be a limit of 20 teams at $240 per team. The payout will be as follows, first place-$400, second place-$320 and third place-$240. There will also be a 50/50 raffle held. Concessions will also be available.
