The holidays are officially over at our house and let me tell you, getting all four kids, their spouses, and grandbabies together was no small feat. We managed it, though, and now I’m ready to settle back into the routine of “normal life.” Weekends with the grandbabies, schedules, and structure suit me just fine.

The 1876 Corning Express on Display at the Courier Office

This August 12th, 1876 copy of the Corning Express has been preserved in a microfilm collection at Arkansas State University and has been recovered for the benefit of Clay County history. Modern microfilm machines allow users to create high quality PDF images of documents. All 8 pages of this edition of the Corning Express have now been digitally preserved so that the public and local historians can have access to it. In an effort to make this material more publicly available and to promote local history, Ryan Carter commissioned Malone Custom Designs to print all 8 pages in high quality on foam boards to be displayed at the Clay County Courier office where visitors can read all the news fit to print 149 years ago.
