In my house, weekends are a mix of intense competition and shameless surrender. Ever since my grandson, Solomon, received Connect 4 for Christmas, JenJen (that’s me) has been in the trenches, battling it out on the floor. And let me tell you—this four-year-old has a talent for “blocking” my chips like he’s training for the World Championship of Board Games.

Black River Technical College (BRTC) is extending support to Tenneco employees after the business announced it will be closing its doors in March. BRTC recognizes the impact the closure will have on the local workforce and economy and is working with Paragould Chamber of Commerce and other state agencies to address the needs of displaced workers. Together these organizations are proactively providing resources and support to help affected employees transition to new opportunities.
The Northeast Arkansas community is gearing up for the 2025 Polar Plunge, a unique fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Arkansas. This annual event, organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, invites individuals and teams to take an icy plunge to raise money and awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Laughter, whipped cream, and good-natured chaos filled the air at Corning Park Elementary as students and teachers came together for a unique celebration. As a reward for their fall fundraiser efforts, students who sold 10 or more items earned the chance to pie their teachers — and they didn’t hold back.
The office of Central Methodist University Provost Rita Gulstad announced recently the students included on the Fall 2024 Dean’s List.
