4th of July parade to follow regular route
4th of July Parade Chairman, D.J. Herzog states the parade route will follow its regular route during the 2024 4th of July Parade. At exactly 9 a.m., the parade will begin moving, led by the sirens of the Corning Police Department. The parade assembled on Second Street, south from the intersection with Pine Street will begin moving through the downtown area. The Corning Police Chief and Corning High School Band will lead the parade as it travels north to Main Street. The parade will turn left at Red Taylor Ford (Second and Elm) and head toward Missouri Avenue (Ermert Funeral Home corner) and turn South (left turn) on Missouri Avenue. After two blocks, the parade hits Harb Street and proceeds toward the back entrance of Wynn Park.

Just the ticket . . .
ThecityofCorninghasmanytravelerswhopassthroughtown on any given day and recently Sandra Morello and her sister came from St. Louis to put flowers on their family members’ graves. While in the area, Sandra purchased tickets for the 50/50 raffle tickets at the Corning Chamber of Commerce.
Collision leads to drug arrest
On June 24, 2024, at approximately 7:20 A.M. the Clay County Sheriff’s Department responded to a head-on collision just north of Greenway on Hwy. 49. When the Sheriff’s Department arrived, the deputy came in contact with both drivers. One driver was still in his vehicle and seemed disoriented and confused. After the ambulance arrived both drivers refused medical treatment. The deputy had concerns about the impairment of the driver who had remained in his vehicle when he had arrived on the scene of the accident. The deputy conducted a search of his vehicle and placed the driver under arrest. 69-year-old Charles Robinson Camp of Piggott was transported to the Clay County Detention Center on the following charges: Possession Of Meth or Cocaine LT 2GM, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, DWI-Drugs (Unlawful Act), Driving Left of Center.


The Power of Pray
Prayers for the family of Kelly Garrett, who passed away last week of a massive stroke. Kelly was the husband of the late Melanie Wright Garrett, a former Corning resident who passed away from bile duct cancer in May. Prayers are requested for the Garrett and Wright family.
