Jayce Couch participated in The Last Dance All Star Basketball Game on Saturday, March 22 hosted by GrindTime Development and SEMO Prep at the Poplar Bluff Middle School in Poplar Bluff at 6 p.m. The game included a 3-Point and Dunk Contest. Couch played under Coach Dontre Jenkins during the All Star Game and scored 15 points for “Team Red.”
The M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center was a hub of area businesses providing various services and products to area residents on Thursday, March 28. There were 23 businesses and vendors participating, including vision and glucose screenings at the annual Business and Health Expo hosted by the Corning Chamber of Commerce. The event was hosted from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. with free admission, and many door prizes and giveaways. The Lemonade House Grille was set up outside the community center serving attendees. The St. Bernard’s Mammography Mobile was also onsite, the Arkansas Workforce Mobile was available to assist with employment services, a blood drive was held by the American Red Cross, and the 1st Choice Healthcare Mobile was available to conduct weight, height and hearing checks. The Corning Gifted and Talented students were a part of the many businesses set up inside selling items for fundraising.
The Bobcats lost to the Rivercrest Colts in a makeup game on Tuesday, March 26 at home. The game scheduled for Monday was pushed to the next day due to weather.
The Corning Jr. Bobcats squared off with the Rivercrest Colts on Tuesday, March 26 at home. The Colts made the first score on the board in the 1st inning. Corning also scored at their first at bat in the bottom of the 1st inning.
The Corning Lady Bobcats Basketball team received the Award of Excellence bestowed on teams that exhibit exemplary conduct, which includes sportsmanship, ethics and integrity during a season. The award was presented to Corning High School for an ejection-free season of Girls Basketball 2023-2024.
