Full Circle

This week’s column is about something I know little about. I have little idea how to read the stats on it, or much of anything else. That being said, I am fascinated by it. What is it? It is DNA. Again, this came from something I have been reading, and as you know that covers a very wide spectrum of subjects. I think that as study continues on the subject, we are going to be astounded by the findings. We already know that many of our illnesses are passed through families by DNA.

Probation search leads to drug arrest

On March 22, 2024, at approximately 5:10 P.M. the Clay County Sheriff’s Department conducted a probation search at 93 CR 147 north of Corning. The Sheriff’s Department came in contact with 46-year-old Mark Malone of the residence. A search was conducted on the vehicles and residence, where several illegal items were found. Mr. Malone was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked in on the following charges: Possession of Meth or Cocaine GT 2 GM But LT 10 GM, Possession of SCH VI LT 4OZ, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Felony.

March 12, 2015 Thursday was a busy day, not only for Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and Corning Street Department, but many individuals were out with tractors and snow shovels clearing streets, driveways and sidewalks. Jonathan Burkheart was one of those working on snowdrifts as much as 18” deep.

The Lowe Down

Where I come from a man’s ball cap is his calling card. His brand. It is a staple. Above the functional bill generally indicates what he supports. It could be a business, politician, a school, sports team or motto. Much like the physical state of a child’s stuffed animal, the rough condition of a ball cap indicates how well loved it is by its owner. If the wearer is a gentleman, he knows to remove it during prayer, at the dinner table, in the church pew and during the Pledge of Allegiance. When I was a young girl it was generally said that a man should take his hat off indoors. Men rarely do that anymore. Women wear ball caps today as well. I personally own several. In addition to the aforementioned situations, in the old days, it was customary for a gentleman to remove his hat when entering someone’s home, inside public buildings, such as a courthouse or school, the movies, during the National Anthem, when being introduced to someone, and any instance in the presence of our flag. Our etiquette about quite a few things has loosened over the years.
