New high school project discussed in Corning and Knobel meetings

The Corning School District held its third and fourth meetings concerning the proposed new high school project and millage request that appeared on the Presidential Primary ballot for the March 5th election. Superintendent Jennifer Edington presented the facts concerning the high school’s infrastructure and electrical issues to those attending the Corning meeting on Feb. 20 at the CHS cafeteria at 6 p.m. and to residents in the Knobel area at the Knobel Community Center on Thursday evening, Feb. 29 at 5:30 p.m. The superintendent explained the upcoming testing season concerning the infrastructure issues at the high school to those attending. Corning High School has a little over 500 students that will take the state test in April. Currently, the high school does not have the electrical capabilities to keep all the Chromebooks running and charged at the same time. Woolard said, “We have to spread testing out throughout the month of April. It is frustrating and not uncommon for Chromebooks to lose charge or signal due to the sheer amount of kids on them testing at once. It doesn’t matter as much during a regular school day, but it’s crucial during testing.”
