The Corning Senior Boys earned a win on Senior Night against Crowley’s Ridge Academy; 61-44. Top scorers for the night were Jayce Couch - 26 points, Luke Blanchard - 17 points, Spencer Blanchard - 9 points and Roman Davis - 5 points.

Senior players on the Lady Bobcat and Bobcat Basketball teams were honored on Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb. 6 when both teams faced Crowley’s Ridge Academy.

State Capitol Week in Review
LITTLE ROCK – The families of about 20,000 elementary students will soon be notified that they are eligible for a $500 grant to pay for tutors to help their children learn to read at grade level. The Legislative Council approved emergency rules, clearing the way for literacy tutoring grants to be awarded.

Man’s Best Friend
Brownie and Mitsy. Those were the mixed shelter dogs that my family had when I was a child. We loved those dogs. We were even playing a small part in addressing a huge community problem -- pet overpopulation. It has only gotten worse, and it will not be solved until local and state officials take it seriously.

Fiscal session around the corner
We’re just a little more than two months away from the 2024 Fiscal Session, which means pre-session budget hearings are coming up fast. Pre-session hearings prior to fiscal sessions generally don’t take as much time as those that come before regular sessions.
How to get kids more engaged in their dental health
Dental health should be a priority at any age, and is especially important for children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than half of children between the ages of six and eight have had a cavity in at least one of their primary teeth. Also, more than half of adolescents aged 12 to 19 have had a cavity in at least one permanent tooth. Cavities and other oral health conditions, such as periodontal diseases, are largely preventable with proper oral hygiene.
