BRTC Announces President’s and Deans’ List for Fall 2023

POCAHONTAS, AR — Black River Technical College is pleased to announce the students who have been named to the President’s and Deans’ List for the Fall semester of 2023. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 college credit hours, excluding developmental courses, not be on any type of probation, and must have a minimum grade point average of 4.0.

QC meets for January

The Clay Quorum Court met in regular session on Monday, Jan. 22, at the courthouse in Piggott. Members present were Justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, Brad Green and Randy Kingston. Justices David Cagle, David Hatcher, George Lowe and Neal Smith were absent.

Foggy rainbow

Mitch Brown caught a beautiful rainbow when the sun shone through the fog last week in this photo taken on the Zack Brown Farms in Success. At least 25 states from southwest to the northeast reported near zero visibility due to dense fog on Thursday morning, January 25. Fog moved into northeast Arkansas on Tuesday morning, January 23 reducing visibility with periods of rain and fog sticking around through Friday morning.

Busy January for city council

The Corning City Council has had an active January holding three special meetings in addition to the regular monthly meeting. During the month, the city council approved the 2024 budget, amended the city employee handbook twice and discussed and approved the rezoning of three R-3 Residential Zoning Classification properties to change them to C-2 Commercial Zoning Classification.
