The CHS Quiz Bowl team came away from the Senior High Quiz Bowl held on Thursday, January 25 in Walnut Ridge at the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative with a 4th place trophy. The CHS Quiz Bowl team faced some tough competition against some strong teams from Paragould, Westside and Greene County Tech. Seth Green’s performance in the semi-final game against Crowley’s Ridge Academy in the First National Bank Tournament earned his recognition as Player of the Game. Green scored a career high of 21 points that helped to boost the Bobcats past CRA and onto the finals.
Lady Bobcat Katie Karr’s performance during the semi-final game vs. Crowley’s Ridge Academy in the First National Bank Semi-Final game earned her the title of Player of the Game. Karr scored 10 points to help advance the Lady Bobcats into the Finals against Maynard.
Reid McMasters earned Player of the Game for his performance in the Corning vs. Ridgefield Christian game in the First National Bank Tournament on Saturday, January 20. McMasters scored 23 points and was instrumental in the Corning JV victory over Ridgefield; 61-48.
The following Corning players were named to the First National Bank All-Tournament Team: Lady Bobcats - Olivia Compton, Presley Martin, Katie Karr and Kenlie Watson. Bobcats - Seth Green, Luke Blanchard, Jayce Couch and Roman Davis.
Corning Boys and Girls Basketball Teams advanced to the Finals of the First National Bank Tournament by defeating Crowley’s Ridge College in the Semi-Finals on Saturday, January 20. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Falcons by a score of 63-28 to advance to the First National Bank Finals to face the Maynard Lady Tigers.
The Lady Bobcats faced Maynard in the Finals of the First National Bank Tournament on Saturday, January 20 after defeating CRA in the Semi-Finals. Corning lost to the Lady Tigers by a score of 55-48.
Jayce Couch was named First National Bank Finals Player of the Game for his performance in the Bobcat’s finals victory over Van Buren. Couch scored 31 points.
