Blizzard drops plenty snow
The blizzard predicted for Corning by the National Weather Service a few days in advance materialized as expected with strong northeast winds and sleet changing to snow dumping 8.25 inches of snow in an 8-hour period. Snow depth at other Observing Stations in northeast Arkansas was similar. Some crewmembers of Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department reported to work late Christmas day getting trucks ready for the expected snowfall. First team left in trucks with blades to remove snow from the most traveled highways in the county. Later they moved to other roadways.
