Summer vacation season is here! We have been having people all across the United States stop by for information on The Natural State. Since the start of the month, the Arkansas Department of Transportation has been resurfacing US 67 with fresh asphalt from the Arkansas-Missouri Stateline to the AR 328 intersection.

Clay Co. Sheriff Dept. Reports

On June 29, 2023, at 3:17 p.m. the Clay County Sheriff’s Department went to 315 Gookin Street in Greenway to serve a misdemeanor warrant for failure to pay on 50-year-old Trena Lyon. When they came into contact with the subject, they also conducted a probation search of the residence. After the search was conducted Ms. Lyon was transported to the Clay County Sheriff’s Detention Center for Felony Drug Paraphernalia and the Misdemeanor warrant.

Check out Corning Library’s new telescope

Summer is the perfect time to visit the Corning Public Library. It’s provides a reprieve from the summer heat, there are many books to sit and read and/ or check out, plus they have Wi-Fi. The library is a learning hub and provides a vast amount of information as well as entertainment to the community. The library now provides a marvelous opportunity for budding astronomers to check out their new telescope, an Orion StarBlast 4.5” Telescope provided by the Library Telescope Program sponsored by Central Arkansas Astronomical Society (CAAS).
