WBU announces Dean’s List

Williams Baptist University has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2023 spring semester. The President’s List includes those full-time students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List consists of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.

1st annual Victory Lake Home Run Derby held

The first annual Victory Lake Home Run Derby was held on Saturday, June 10 at the Victory Lake Ball Complex. Derby organizer Logan Carpenter stated there was a great turnout for the younger age group competitions. There were 20 kids entered into the competition with 15 in the 7-9 boys and 5 in the adult age range. He said there were some good hitters and many quick boys and girls that had a blast helping chase the ball. Carpenter said he appreciated all the vendors and those who helped during the event; particularly 1st Choice Home Care. The awards were created by Logan Lepard. The derby raised $190 for Corning Baseball and Softball Leagues.

Clay Co. Extension Homemakers attend state meeting

The Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council (AEHC) held their state meeting June 6-8 in North Little Rock at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel. “New Friends & Old, Together We Grow” was the theme for the event. There were several informative educational classes planned for those in attendance to learn new things, as well as fun craft classes and games. Kat Robinson, Arkansas’s food historian, author, and filmmaker, was the events closing guest speaker.
