POCAHONTAS, AR — Black River Technical College will hold its Registered Nursing pinning and graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Randolph County Development Center on the Pocahontas Campus.
The Mississippi Mudcatters are back at it for the 2023 fishing season. The fishermen have made two trips to the Mighty Mississippi thus far and in true Mudcatter fashion came back with a mess of fish during both excursions. On April 14, the men caught nine fish totally 115 pounds. The largest weighed 30 pounds. On their second go-round on April 28, the men caught 12 fish weighing a total of 130 pounds with the biggest catch weighing 55 pounds.
The City of Corning will be hosting its annual city-wide yard sale on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, 6. A yard sale permit does not have to be purchased for this event.
Extension Homemakers in Clay County will celebrate the contributions of their organization to the community during May as Extension Homemakers Month in Arkansas. The Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council is an organization associated with the Cooperative Extension Service, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
The Corning Beautification Committee welcomes Kimberly Jenkins as Artist of the Month for May. Kimberly is a self-taught artist who graduated from Pocahontas in May of 2003. During her high school career, she was the Vice President of the Art Club. She enjoys painting, crafting, writing poetry, doing makeup, and spending time with her children.

In a collaborative and creative project, seventh and eighth grade art students in the classrooms of Mrs. Megan Owens and Mrs. Christina Patterson- Swint have been working on a Bobcat mural. The mural is being auctioned on Facebook. Proceeds will benefit middle and high school art classes for the 2023- 2024 school year. The base board for the mural is 36” x 48”.
