New Arrival

Trevor and Becca Barajas of Corning announce the birth of their daughter, Holland Young Barajas. Holland was born in Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital at 10:03 a.m. on April 5, 2023. She weighed 9 lbs. 12 oz. and was 22 inches long. She was welcomed home by her older brothers, Harrison, 4 and Hatcher, 2. Holland’s grandparents are Robin Young and the late Bill Young, Stacey and Jeff Battles of Maynard, and Matt and Jennifer Barajas of Michigan. Her great-grandparents are Ruth Fleming of Corning, Glen Young of Knobel and Patricia Bledsoe of Datto, Robert and Ernestine Barajas of Flint, Michigan.

Local tots enjoy Itty Bitty Story Time

Children visiting the Corning Public Library for Itty Bitty Story Time on Wednesday, April 5 were entertained by all the activities during the story time. The young children were introduced to a story read by Ms. Renee, entertained with a puppet show, enjoyed movement in the form of a dance party and stretched their imaginations with an artistic coloring activity.

CHS seniors “Get Real” learning financial responsibility

The CHS Class of 2023 participated in a “Get Real” Financial Management Workshop on Friday, April 6 at Corning High School. During the hands-on experiential simulation Corning seniors had the opportunity to experience their future in a financial decision- making mode. They were encouraged to make wise financial lifestyle choices like those they will face as adults each month based on their family size and affordability. The “Get Real” simulation is designed for three, onehour sessions; preparation day, simulation day and a follow up evaluation day.
