The magic of the holidays
One of our goals this year was to bring back more fun at school, since that has been somewhat lacking the past two years. Throughout this semester our students have gone on field trips, competed in numerous events, enjoyed activities and homecoming festivities to try to return to normal. We have tried our best to plan fun activities for both our staff and our students to make learning a little more exciting. You may have noticed the staff Halloween costume contests on social media or even witnessed the joke the staff pulled on me with the funny t shirt contest. All of these were planned in good fun to build relationships, instill a love of learning, and lighten our stressful loads throughout the year. Now as holiday season is upon us we have really turned up the fun! If you’ve been on any of our campuses, you may have noticed that the holiday season is in full swing. Each morning we’ve had a Christmas carol music trivia question where our students have helped our teachers win prizes; we are hosting a decorate your door contest, and this week we are having an ugly sweater competition. We’ve had lots of fun while still continuing our learning instruction during the last few weeks of school. I’ve seen more laughter and competition in the past three weeks than I have seen in a long time. It is refreshing to see us gradually returning to a school year full of activities. W.C. Jones said, “The joy of brightening other lives becomes for us the magic of the holidays.” Judging by the reactions of our students and staff these past couple of weeks, I’d say fun is being had by all! As we close out the first semester of the 22-23 school year, I’d like to wish all of our students, staff, parents and community Merry Christmas! I wish you hope, peace, and love during this holiday season!
