A fair day’s wage . . .

During the November City Council meeting there were questions from the audience concerning city employee salaries being addressed in November per the city’s employee handbook. This was following a statement by Councilman Terry Masterson concerning city employees making negative comments about the city government, specifically on social media. Masterson said he had been seeing city employees bashing the way city government is being conducted. During the conversation, City Clerk J’Anna Couch also indicated that there were rumors around town concerning what the mayor earned that were incorrect. This led to the council being asked how much Covid money was spent and how much the city had received. The city clerk explained the city had $600,000 to replace all of the remaining sewer pumps and then if there was money left over, then it could be used for employee salaries. In the November 18 article about the council meeting, the city’s October 2022 payroll was published to clarify for readers what city employees earned or took home.

At one time during World War Two, I counted up that I had more than 23 relatives on foreign soil at the same time.
