Peach Orchard News
Hello everyone. Thank you for all the prayers. I’m feeling better, not 100 percent yet , but getting back to my old self. My Dad made it through his third surgery and will be coming home soon. Ansley and Ebby had birthdays. May they have many more blessed years. Ansley celebrated her birthday at the Peach Orchard Community Center. Ebby celebrated hers at Nana’s and Pa’s house in Peach Orchard.

My Daughter
Friends have asked why I haven’t written about my four-year-old daughter. Some know me as a doting dad and conjectured that I was too deeply in love to make fun of her.

BRTC’s Jason Smith Elected President of State Board
POCAHONTAS, AR — BRTC Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith was elected by his peers to serve as president of Arkansas Student Affairs Association (Ar-SAA) for the 2022-2023 academic year. This organization is composed of student affairs professionals from 2- and 4-year colleges and universities in the state including public and private. Smith has served on the Ar-SAA board since 2021 as the member-at-large for 2-year colleges.
The Senate’s down a member
Senator Clark suspended through end of term Last Tuesday, the Arkansas Senate met in a formal business meeting to conclude the work it had begun on Friday, September 26—namely, deciding whether or not to accept the Senate Ethics Committee’s findings concerning the actions of Senator Alan Clark (R-Lonsdale). Remember, back in July, the Arkansas Senate voted to penalize both Senator Clark and Senator Mark Johnson (R-Little Rock) for their roles in trying to secure unearned mileage and per diem for Senator Clark.
AGFC recruiting newest class of wildlife officer cadets
Turn an outdoor obsession into a profession by applying to become an AGFC wildlife officer cadet. Applicants must be 21 years old, have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a U.S. institution, must pass a physical, vision and hearing exams, must be able to swim, must be willing to accept assignment anywhere in the state, must complete the Commission’s intensive 26-week enforcement training course and must work varied hours including weekends and holidays. The applicant must be able to pass a background check, a valid driver’s license and good driving record with no felony convictions.

Welcome Center Report
Hello Clay County Courier readers! Fall has officially kicked off here in Arkansas. The temperature has dropped, the leaves are slowly beginning to turn, and our assistant manager Brenda Eddington has our center festively decorated. Over the next few months there will be plenty of fall events to start up our holiday season. Over in Helena-West Helena, the Biscuit is back with the King Biscuit Blues Festival, which was canceled two years in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic. King Biscuit will run October 5-8 with music provided by Billy Branch & The Son of Blues with Bobby Rush, Mavis Staples and The Devon Allman Project with Larry McCray & Jimmy Hall. One week later, from October 14 to 23, will be the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock.
