POCAHONTAS, AR — Black River Technical College is pleased to announce that several BRTC employees received promotions during August. Keri Zimmer of Corning accepted the position of Instructional Technologist.
The Corning Harvest Festival is right around the corner with many people looking forward to the event every year. Visitors travel to Wynn Park to enjoy the antique farm equipment demonstrations, an antique car show, entertainment and a variety of craft booths. For 2022 festival organizers have announced there will be a new event, a barbeque cook off. The Harvest Festival set on the fourth Saturday in October each year, will be on Saturday, October 22 this year.
The annual Corning Lions Club has begun their annual fundraising raffle. Every year they give away $10,000 with proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the local Lions Club for sight conservation. Only 200 tickets, each a $100 donation, will be sold to be given away Saturday, October 22, 2022. Participants do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available from Lions members or at Red Taylor Ford.
The Corning School District has announced gates prices for 2022-2023 agreed upon by the 3A-3 Conference. They are $5 for adults and $5 for students/children. Children under the age of 5 years are free.
Was it a life coach or a scientist or some random voice on the internet making the claim that we only use 10 percent of our brains? Is that even true in any meaningful way? The implication is that the 11th percent – the path to geniushood – is available to us with a little hard work and persistence. This is America, God love us all, and that sort of idea has a strong appeal.
There is a craze sweeping the nation. People of all ages have flocked to this, um, well, I would call it an activity or a game but others call it a sport.
From Senator Blake Johnson LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas has begun the process of expanding Medicaid services so that more pregnant women can qualify for the government health care program. The expanded services should be available to thousands of women by the beginning of next year, if the federal government approves the proposals submitted by the state Human Services Department.
