The Corning junior and senior high volleyball teams had a Black and Gold Scrimmage on Friday, August 19 at Park Elementary. Head Coach Drew Radcliff and Coach Chris Murray coached the teams while Bucky Hayes officiated the games.

School Board approves Additional Compensation Plan for retention of CSD employees in special meeting
The Corning School Board met on August 23, 2022 with all members present. The board approved the resignation of Christine Walz, bus driver, effective September 9, 2022 and approved the employments of Kimberly Jenkins, cafeteria worker, Diane Shelton, paraprofessional, and Alex Teague as basketball concession stand coordinator. Next, the board approved the legal ending balance for the 21-22 school year at $1,476,529.93 and the transfer of any remaining funds to the building fund for future district building renovations, repairs, needs, etc. Mrs. Woolard presented the board with an Additional Compensation Plan for Retention of Corning School District Employees. The board approved the plan which was developed to comply with the legislative recommendations that school district employees be given additional pay of $5000 for certified staff and $2500 for classified staff with ARP ESSER Funds. In the CSD plan, all full time employees, both certified and classified, who are on contract at the end of each semester will be paid $2500 for a total payment of $5000. Bus drivers who are on contract at the end of each semester will be paid $1250 for a total of $2500. The additional pay will be made from ARP ESSER funds and is for the 22-23 school year only. Finally, the board discussed the current condition of the academic facilities and property. No action was taken. There being no further business, President Turner adjourned the meeting.

by M urley Greetings, Down where I live, just a hop, skip, and hot muggy jump northwest of Houston, we have not had but two inches of measurable rainfall since June 2nd, and that was last week. We are promised more this afternoon, if we are lucky.
