The Overextended, Overworked, Exhausted Teacher

One time at parent-teacher conferences, one of my students and his mother sat down in front of me at my table in the middle of the high school gymnasium. I started our meeting by shaking the mom’s hand and telling her how much I enjoyed having Thomas in my class. I said that Thomas works really hard, participates often, and is so kind to other students. However, whole time that I was telling this mother about Thomas, I could see a grimace growing across her face. She just silently sat there in anger as I praised her son, Thomas.

BRTC Career Coaches Visit Annual Conference

POCAHONTAS, AR - BRTC’s Career Coaches and Career Coach Supervisor recently attended the annual Career Coach Conference in Little Rock, hosted by the Arkansas Department of Education Division of Career and Technical Education. The purpose of this annual conference is to keep Career Coaches and other stakeholders up-to-date on the latest trends, learn about promising ideas, and network with other coaches as they constantly work to increase the odds of success for the students of the schools in which they’re attached.

Peach Orchard News

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is staying cool during these hot days we have been having. I have to go out every two days and turn the sprinkler on for the ducks, geese and even the chickens join them. I was in the pool the other day just relaxing and I saw two ducks fly over. So, in my panic, I got out of the pool to count the ducks and geese and they were all there. The ones flying over were wild. They were probably thinking of joining mine under the sprinkler too. Which would be fine with me, as long as mine don’t get the bright idea to fly the coop. Hopefully we will receive enough rain to help all the animals, farmers, gardeners. I’m ready for rain, no matter how much we get, I will be very thankful to the Good Lord for it.

Clay County approved for emergency haying and grazing of CRP

Piggott, Arkansas, July 21, 2022 – The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is a voluntary program available to agricultural producers to help them safeguard environ¬mentally sensitive land. Producers enrolled in CRP establish longterm, resource-conserving covers to improve the quality of water, control soil erosion, and enhance wildlife habitat. In return, FSA provides participants with rental payments and cost-share assistance.
