Bobcat athletic teams are working this summer to hone their skills and gain new experiences preparing for the 2022-2023 season. Tuesday morning, July 26 the Bobcats hosted four Missouri teams from Chaffee, Doniphan, Thayer and Malden for scrimmages at Bobcat Stadium.
We’re entering a dangerous time in our society when people with knowledge and experience are largely ignored and people with no experience are revered. Suddenly it seems everyone in the world is an expert and anyone with an opinion feels they are an authority. I can tell you this, if I need a physician to conduct a lifesaving procedure, I don’t want a person who thinks he/she can save my life because they stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Likewise, I want my nieces and nephews taught by highly qualified educators who are well compensated for their knowledge and teaching abilities.
Members of the new weight room at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center received an inspiring fitness mural to encourage their efforts. The mural was painted on July 19 and 20 by Jennifer Prince, a K-6 art elementary art teacher in the Neelyville school district. Prince is beginning her 18 year in the district. She has been painting professionally for almost 20 years, painting murals, commissions and conducting painting classes. She has a professional Facebook page called Painted by Prince.
Children of all ages enjoyed the first of two Water Slide Days at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center on Saturday, July 23. Community children played in kiddie pools, and two water slides cooling off during the hot day. The Corning Volunteer Fire Department came out to fill the pools of the water slides, sprayed kids with water and allowed them to play with the water hoses. Refreshments were available from vendors Loreli’s Ice and Mr. Taco Mexican Grill.
LaJeasta Branum recently broke her ankle in several places and her fibula below the knee. Her physician wants to wait until swelling recedes before making a decision about surgery. LaJeasta is hoping surgery will not be necessary and is in a great deal of pain currently. She requests prayers for pain relief and a quick recovery.

Marie Malott, 73, of Gatewood, MO passed away July 23, 2022 at home. Mrs.
Lavadna Farmer, 73, of Knobel, passed away July 25, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro.
