Enjoy summer fun while practicing sun safety tips to avoid skin cancer, sunburn

LITTLE ROCK — As temperatures warm up and the school year winds down, Arkansas families are preparing to spend more time outside during the summer months. While the Natural State offers plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun, it’s important to practice sun safety by using sunscreen, avoiding prolonged sun exposure and wearing protective clothing.

Community Center gym opens

The new M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center Gym is now open to the public during regular hours community center hours from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. The gym hopes to be open 24 hours a day soon. The standard membership fee is $30 per month while the family membership for couples and their children under 18 years of age is $50 per month.

A Fishy Story

When I was growing up I had a lot of pets. My first pet was my dog Chum, later joined by a tiny stray who showed up one day and earned the name Squeaky. I had a Boston terrier named Scottie. There were dozens of cats, a pig named Porky and a white rabbit Hoppy. One kind of pet I never had much luck with was fish.
