Sandra “Sandy” “MawMaw” Kay Leach devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sandra Kay Leach, 70, died Saturday June 4 , 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center surrounded by family. Sandy was born January 30 , 1952, in Piggott, AR to the late Henry J. Crawford and Inis (Rawls) Crawford.

Rise and Shine Returns to AR PBS This Summer

The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education is partnering again this summer with Arkansas PBS to deliver quality programming and customized content for students this summer. Season 2 of the popular “Rise and Shine” series will premiere with a group of all-star educators bringing the magic of the classroom straight to your student’s home. Scholars can jumpstart their mornings with televised minilessons provided by seven Arkansas teachers and a hand-picked selection of educational programming from Arkansas PBS to address essential learning for K-5 students. School districts may distribute the attached flyer to all K-5 families/students to support ongoing learning and to mitigate learning loss over the summer months.

BRTC hosts VEX IQ Robotics Summer Camp at Community Center

A four-day Robotics Summer Camp for students entering grades 4-8 in the fall presented by Black River Technical College was held at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center. The camp ran from June 6 – 9. It focused on Basic Robot Designs and components. Students used social skills to work in teams, learned to drive the robot, make modifications and program the robot.

Smarter Than I Thought I Was!

I want to begin with an apology to all those who have scientific minds. I realize without science we wouldn’t have all the medical advancements which have saved numerous lives; we wouldn’t have inventions such as the automobile, and discoveries like electricity. Pollard Picnic to be held July 9

The 89th Annual Pollard Picnic will occur on July 9, 2022, adhering to all State Health Guidelines at that time. There will be food, entertainment, ballgames, pageants, visiting with friends and neighbors and all the activities the picnic has to offer. All profit from the picnic goes to the upkeep of the New Hope Cemetery. If unable to attend the picnic a tax-deductible donation may be sent by mail for cemetery maintenance.
