Lady Cats declaw Lady Lions in 1st round of Districts

Tuesday, April 26, the Lady Bobcats defeated Manila in the first round of Districts. Corning fired up the offense in the first inning when Presley Martin singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The Lady Cats tallied 7 runs in the 4th inning. Kylie Zimmer, Kenlie Watson, Martin, Whitley Bolen, Katie Zimmer and Kelsey Arnold each had RBIs in the big inning. The Lady Cats gave up 3 runs in the 5th inning and still managed to defeat Manila by a score of 15-3 in their first outing in District play.

Sports Banquet – May 9

The Corning High School Sports Banquet will be held Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. The PRIDE Booster Club will be feeding 6th grade trap shooters and athletes in grades 7-12 following the banquet at the Parkview Restaurant. Athletes must have signed up in the school office for the meal by May 4. There is a $5 fee when signing up if bringing a date to the meal that doesn’t attend CHS or is not an athlete.

Liles celebrates 85 Years Loved

They say the measure of one’s life is how well they love and are loved. If so, Lucille Liles’ cup runneth over. “85 Years Loved” was the theme of the birthday celebration held for her as she was surrounded by family and friends. Her family held the celebration on her birthday, Sunday, April 24 at her home church, the First General Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Corning where she is a charter member.

Johnson receives pin in DPT ceremony

Cara Johnson, daughter of Blake and Tricia Johnson of Corning, was among members of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2024 at the Arkansas State University College of Nursing and Health Professions to be pinned during the Clinical Pinning Ceremony. The ceremony was held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium in the Reng Student Union. Students in the class will enter the field this summer.

THE POWER OF PRAYER
