
SCHOOL NOTES
The Corning School Board met at 7:00 p.m. on April 12, 2022 with all members present. The board approved the minutes followed by the approval of the financial report presented. The board approved a revised 22-23 School Calendar which has the first day of school beginning on Thursday, August 11, 2022. The revisions were made after DESE clarified new regulations that allow for the new school year to begin after July 1. Next, approval was granted for purchase of a K-8 English Language Arts curriculum from CKLA, a computer science curriculum from Code-HS, and a new 3-12 science curriculum from Discovery Education. The next item on the agenda was the approval of the 2022-2023 salary schedules followed by the renewal of the Survival Flight Insurance for students and staff during school hours and activities. The board approved an asbestos abatement/flooring project at the high school and middle school campus to be completed during summer 2022. This ESSER project will be completed by Dennis Neal Resurfacing at a cost of $99,044.44. A purchase of desktop computers for classroom instruction from CDW for $202,316.45 was approved. Mrs. Woolard explained that teachers needed upgraded desktop computers to keep up with the technology for online learning and that ESSER monies will be used for those purchases. Next the board approved the renewal of mowing/ landscape contract with Ladd Mowing for the 22-23 school year and approved a school choice application into the Corning School District. The board went into executive session. The board came out of executive session. The board approved a leave of absence request for Shaina Lane for the month of May. Next the board approved the following employments/changes: Chris Murray-resignation as boys basketball head coach and assistant baseball coach; Kyle George-resignation boys basketball assistant coach, Brenda Price-resignation yearbook advisor, David Hall-resignation flag line; and Shelley Smith-resignation COVID Point of Contact. Employments: Ashley Davis-CHS classroom teacher, Anthony McMasters-CHS classroom teacher, Drew Radcliff-volleyball head coach, assistant boys basketball coach, assistant baseball coach, classroom teacher; Conner Daniels-assistant football coach, assistant softball coach, classroom teacher; Wes Couch-boys basketball head coach; Chris Murray-assistant volleyball coach; Kyle George-assistant football coach; Blayne Jett-CMS Counselor; Shawna Radcliff-CMS classroom teacher; Kaytie Manatt-CMS classroom teacher; Gina Schubel-Park classroom teacher; Peggy Badgley-Park classroom teacher; Brenda McGrew-Park classroom teacher; Laurie Mock-District Dyslexia Interventionist; Alex Teague-yearbook advisor; and Annie Williamson-flag line sponsor.
