Peach Orchard to mull over ARPA spending on sewer project

Peach Orchard, as well as other small towns in Clay County, must decide how to spend the federal funding coming our way. After receiving the first release of the ARPA funding in July of 2021, we have been studying options for the best use of those funds. Peach Orchard City Council hesitates to make a hurried decision and have been studying our options. In the interim, the rules for spending have changed. The final rule takes effect on April 1, 2022.

Worry, the signature of caring

My sister and I began our lives in Kansas City. We lived in a nice suburban neighborhood where the space between houses could be stepped off; heel-toe, heel-toe and everyone had a chain-link fence surrounding their back yard. This was the 1960’s when a kid’s bike was their favorite mode of transportation. A bicycle represented freedom as we pedaled and glided up and down streets with the wind rushing in our faces and nowhere to be until the street light came on at dusk.

New Look for Corner . . .

This picture of the Estes Building under construction., corner of Second and Vine, is only part of the city improvement taking place downtown. The Corning Bank, across Vine Street, has a major remodeling project underway and the Yamnitz IGA Foodliner, across Second Street, is having improvements made to their parking lot.
