BRTC Announces New GED Scholarship for Fall 2022

POCAHONTAS, AR Jan. 7 – BRTC is excited to announce that longtime Randolph County educator Willa Jenkins and her husband, owner of Jenkins Welding, Kenneth Jenkins are offering a $400 scholarship to students who have graduated with their GED from BRTC’s Pocahontas Adult Education Program and are enrolling in the welding or nursing programs. Kenneth and Willa’s children are BRTC graduates, earning degrees in welding and nursing.

Courier supports VFW Toy Drive

The Rapert-Poyner VFW Post #8347 held their annual Christmas Toy Drive during the 2021 Christmas season. The veterans had Toy Drive boxes at the Clay County Courier and the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center to collect toys for families in need of a hand up during the holidays. The VFW served 55 families this Christmas.

Attorney General Alert: Trust But Verify Internet Sales and Auctions

LITTLE ROCK – Many Arkansans enjoy saving money after the holidays by shopping after-Christmas sales online, including social media marketplaces, internet classifieds and internet auction websites. While these platforms allow for ease of commerce and often feel like shopping from a friend instead of a retailer, they are also a hotbed for scammers who exploit that sense of community. Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge is urging Arkansans to use caution on auction-style sites, classifieds and in marketplaces because they may present opportunities for scam artists.

Arkansas Center for Health Improvement LITTLE ROCK ― A record 226 Arkansas public school districts, or 97% of the state’s 234 contiguous school districts, have COVID-19 infection rates of 50 or more new known infections per 10,000 district residents over a 14-day period, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement said Monday, citing its analysis of Arkansas Department of Health data current as of Saturday.
