Bass heads to Shreveport to help restore power

Seth Bass, a 2017 graduate of Corning High School, was a member of one of four crews from North Star Electric, who went down to Louisiana from Texas to assist in cleanup and restoring power in the wake of Hurricane Laura last week. Bass currently lives in Austin, Texas and is an apprentice lineman.

As of Saturday, August 29, he was in Shreveport, Louisiana. When their crews arrive in a location to help restore power after a natural disaster, Bass said they usually go to what they call a staging area and wait to be sent to an outage. “I've seen broken poles, broken cross arms. We had our four crews spread out and each has been given individual tasks,” he described. “Most of the damage has been from tree limbs that were blown on the lines that tore them down.”

Bass said the length of each repair depends on the situation. It can be anywhere from a 30-minute job to an all day job. It just depends on the scenario.
